Bathroom Remodels

The bathroom is where we begin and end each day. It can set the tone, and is a great place to begin when considering ways to improve your home:

  • Add storage and usable space

  • Modernize the look and amenities

  • Add safety and mobility features

A Legacy of Craftsmanship For Your Vision.

At Keith Smith Construction, remodeling is a trade passed down through three generations. We know that when it comes to bathroom remodels, the little things matter: seamless tilework, reliable plumbing, and clean, functional finishes that bring it all together.

You can trust that we treat your home like we’d treat our own.

Remodeling Tubs and Showers

Many of our clients choose to remove outdated garden tubs to make room for oversized showers. These improvements often feature custom tilework, built-in niches, rain showerheads, and custom glass enclosures. Other homeowners opt to add a deep soaker tub for long, relaxing evenings at home.

You can also upgrade the safety and comfort with non-slip surfaces. For anyone not planning to move again, there are accessibility improvements you can make to your bathroom such as handrails, shower seats, and even specialized shower doors that can accommodate a wheelchair.

Things to consider:

  • Adding a bidet requires an outlet, which most toilets don’t have by default.

  • Adding a heater to reduce steam (and exhaust fan in the ceiling). This also prevents moisture build up on the walls that can lead to mold and musty smell.

  • A hair-catch in the shower drain.

  • Curbless showers for wheelchair accessibility.

  • Blocking in the wall for future grab bars. (More strength and stability to support your full weight, when needed.)

  • Taller toilets for easier sitting.

  • Extra wide 36 inch doors provide wheelchair accessibility.

  • Textured tile floors for anti-slip (and can do in combo with mosaic tile — more grout joints for feet to grab onto).

  • If you’re on a second story or above, consider waterproofing the entire floor.

Upgrading Sinks, Vanities, and Storage

These elements of a bathroom remodel improve functionality and tone. Popular changes here include expanding vanities to include two sinks, adding custom sink designs (such as bowl sinks), and adding new cabinetry for easier storage.

Whether you're going for sleek and modern or warm and traditional, your choice of materials can change the overall feel of the bathroom. This is ideal for cases where the bathroom was functional when you bought the house, but you’ve always wished the mirrors were different. Or the vanity had better countertops, for instance.

Looking for ideas? Consider:

  • Removing walls butted up against a closet for more space.

  • Consider any unused space you can add to the bathroom, such as unneeded tubs or cabinets.

Luxury Add-Ons

When you want to truly turn your bathroom into something convenience-centric, these are some extras you can include in your remodel:

  • Adding a water line loop around the crawl space, which keeps the water hot at all times. No waiting for faucet water to heat up.

  • Adding a second showerhead, or a rain showerhead to create an oasis vibe.

  • Heated flooring to prevent discomfort first thing in the morning, or when leaving the shower.
